  I am a trained immunologist with six years experience in academia. Since 2003, I've gained managerial and biology lead experience in pharmaceutical R&D positions. I’ve been fortunate to be given opportunities to lead and support drug discovery programmes for multiple therapeutic indications in all phases of drug discovery and development; from target discovery to candidate selection and from Phase I, II & III studies to filing regulatory submissions. Since 2009, I’ve delivered biology Mode of Action packages for a number of GSK assets, delivered First Time in Human biomarker data and currently act as biology lead on a number of more advanced Phase II clinical programs such as Belimumab/Rituximab combination therapy in primary Sjögren’s Syndrome and lupus and anti-CD3 mAb otelixizumab treatment in new onset Type 1 Diabetes. These roles allowed me to establish a strong track record of setting-up collaborations with leading academic experts in these diseases to support progressing the aforementioned experimental medicine studies. More recently, I’ve been awarded a GSK fellowship and become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. Together with other GSK fellows, we have a “pharma voice”, and help to shape the future of biology in the UK. I’m also keen to support other scientists in their career choices; since 2013 I’ve been a mentor on the Social Mobility Foundation programme to several ambitious and talented A-level students from less-privileged backgrounds to help and guide those accessing top universities and careers.
